Nathaniel J. Plapinger is the euphonium player in the Naval Forces Europe Band. Nathaniel graduated from Westview High school in Portland, Oregon in 2012, and he recieved a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the University of North Texas, where he studied with Dr. Brian L. Bowman.
Nate lives in Naples, Italy. He has been a soloist in the United States, Italy, France, and Switzerland, and has performed in Belgium, Spain, Germany, and several other countries. In addition to solo and wind band work, he plays in a brass quintet as a horn player.
Nathaniel was highly influenced by the five years he spent as a member of the six time DCI World Champion Drum and Bugle Corps, the Santa Clara Vanguard. In those five years, he was both a soloist and section leader.
Nathaniel’s influential teachers include Dr. Patrick Nyren, Fred Sautter, and Dr. Brian Bowman. He plays on a Willson 2900TA euphonium and a Warburton 5GDLE mouthpiece.
